Segmentation
Overview
- Segmentation allows Users with the "Contact Tools" Permission to build and save custom database queries to isolate a group of Contacts that match specific criteria.
- Segmentation saves all Contacts that match a Query to a Contact Group.

Using Segmentation

To create a new Segmentation Query:
- Click on the "Admin" tab to display the Admin page.
- Click on the "Segmentation" link to display the Segmentation page.
- In the "Select Query" drop-down menu, select "Create New Query" to define a new query.

Define your database query by using the three form inputs under the "New Criteria" section.

Select database query components using the drop-down menus:
- Database filter field drop-down menu (ex. EmployeeID or State)
- Comparison operator drop-down menu (ex. Equal to, Not equal to, Greater than, Less than, Like)
- Comparison reference value (ex. John Smith or NC)

Click the "Add" button to save the selected query.
- Click the "Delete Query" button to delete the query and start over.
- As the query modified, the number of matching Contacts will be displayed.

Example: A Sales Exec, John Smith, wants to send a Correspondence to all of his Contacts who have a Status of "A".
- Select "EmployeeID" "Equal to" "John Smith".
- Click the "Add" button.
- Select "Status" "Equal to" "A".
- Click the "Add" button.
- When the query is defined, enter a name for the query in the "Query Name" field.
- Click the "Save" button to return to the Segmentation page in the "Select Query" state.
